Upstream Supply Chain Decarbonization Program –
In Collaboration with M2030
Cummins is committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our entire value chain. As part of this commitment, we are launching the Upstream Supply Chain Decarbonization Program in collaboration with Manufacture 2030 (M2030). This initiative is a key step toward engaging our suppliers in carbon reduction efforts and driving meaningful environmental improvements together.
Why This Matters
While the largest portion of Cummins' Scope 3 emissions comes from the use of our products, our upstream supply chain is the second-largest source. To meet increasing regulatory expectations and customer requirements, and to fulfill our Destination Zero strategy, it is critical that we work closely with key suppliers to measure, manage, and reduce emissions from operations and products.
Who Should Participate
Recognizing the importance of supplier collaboration, Cummins is beginning this initiative by working closely with two key groups of suppliers:
- High-impact suppliers whose products, services, or value chain activities contribute significantly to Cummins’ upstream emissions footprint.
- Other strategic suppliers who are aligned with Cummins’ broader sustainability and responsibility objectives.
These suppliers have received direct invitations from Cummins to join the program.
Program Objectives
This program provides selected suppliers with the tools, guidance, and support needed to:
- Measure energy, water, and waste data across facilities
- Calculate Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions using a GHG protocol-aligned methodology
- Identify high-impact areas and opportunities for reduction
- Set emission reduction targets
- Develop and track decarbonization actions
- Share progress and impact with Cummins
What Invited Suppliers Need to Do
- Register on the M2030 platform
Register your company and relevant facilities at manufacture2030.com/suppliers/automotive - Attend training sessions and webinars
Learn how to use the platform, improve data quality, and build effective carbon reduction strategies. - Submit data and set targets
Provide facility-level data and submit your GHG reduction plan. - Track and report progress
Continue updating your data and action plans to reflect improvements and share progress with Cummins.
